Our Team is Painting the Trans Mountain Pipeline

November 13, 2019 Published by Leave your thoughts

In the latest company news here at Hydro Tech Power Washing, we are pleased to announce that one of our current large projects is the painting of the Trans Mountain Pipeline.

Here’s some information about the company and the project, which is benefiting from our work as providers of commercial industrial painting and beyond.

About Trans Mountain

Trans Mountain Corporation is the company that operates the only pipeline system in Canada that transports oil products to the west coast, delivering more than 300,000 barrels of petroleum products every day across 1,150 kilometers of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, plus another 111 kilometers of pipeline in Washington State.

The latest expansion project for the Trans Mountain Pipeline will increase this capacity even further, supporting growth in Canadian crude oil production and providing greater access to global energy markets. This marks the largest project in the history of the pipeline—a 980 brand-new kilometers of pipeline, plus brand-new (and modified) facilities to go along with it, including terminals, pump stations and a new dock complex in Burnaby, BC.

Trans Mountain Corporation has a long history of providing safe and reliable energy transportation, stretching back 65 years. We are pleased to be a part of this massive project that will nearly double its pipeline length and triple its energy carrying capacity. When complete, the expansion project will provide an additional 590,000 barrels per day of crude oil transportation and tidewater access.

Trans Mountain Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Canadian Development Investment Corporation, and is governed by an independent Board of Directors. It is accountable to Parliament.

Quick facts about the expansion

Here are some additional quick facts about the expansion project we’re working on with Trans Mountain Corporation:

  • Approximately 73 percent of the new pipeline route will use existing rights of way. About 16 percent of the rest will follow linear infrastructure, such as telecommunications lines, hydro or highways, and about 11 percent will be brand-new rights of way.
  • There will be 980 km of brand-new pipeline, along with 193 km of reactivated pipeline.
  • There will be a total of 12 new pump stations and 19 new tanks added to existing storage terminals in Edmonton, Sumas and Burnaby.
  • There will be three new berths built at Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby, allowing the number of tankers at that terminal to increase to about 34 per month.
  • The new pipeline will be able to carry heavier oils, and will have the capability to transport light crude oils as well.
  • Existing pipeline will carry refined products, light crude oils and synthetic crude oils with the capacity to take on heavy crude oils if needed.
  • Trans Mountain has been working with landowners, communities, stakeholders and indigenous peoples since 2012 on the expansion project, and will continue to do so even when operation officially begins.

Our industrial painters are pleased to be a part of such a large-scale project here in western Canada. For more information about the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion project and the role of Hydro Tech Power Washing, we encourage you to contact us today.
